Introduction The short video presented by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) features two families living with children with Attention Deficits Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Tourette syndrome. For the purpose of this paper, Josh and his family’s struggle with ADHD will be reviewed and analyzed using the Calgary Family Assessment Model (CFAM) and Calgary Family Intervention Model (CFIM). CFAM/CFIM enables the health care professionals to focus on psychosocial effects and the links between health issues, beliefs, and family dynamics to arrive at appropriate interventions. The CFAM/CFIM theory allows evaluations and intersections between a particular domain of family functioning and the specific intervention offered by the nurse (Duhamel, Dupuis, Turcotte, Martizes, Gourdreau, 2015). Josh’s Family Eartha, Josh’s mother, narrated that she first noticed her son having problems with identifying colors, not articulating enough, and exhibiting inappropriate behaviors. Josh narrated experiencing difficulty controlling his emotions and tendency to be overly excited. He honestly stated that it’s like having something that he needs to get rid of, but lacks control. Josh’s class teacher noticed the same behaviors and suggested psychologist evaluation, Eartha narrated that she reluctantly agreed to the screening. The psychology tentatively diagnosed Josh as ADHD.
